Justice DH Waghela to be next CJ of Odisha High Court

Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, Justice Dhirendra Hiralal Waghela, would be the next Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi today.

Justice Waghela would replace Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty, who is the acting Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court since March this year after the elevation of Justice Amitava Roy to the Supreme Court.

Waghela, who would take charge of his new assignment within two months, is scheduled to retire in August, 2016.

Born in August 1954 at Rajkot in Gujarat, Justice Waghela began his legal practice in his hometown in November 1975.

He was elevated to the bench of Gujarat High Court as an additional judge in September 1999 and became a permanent judge in May 2001.
