Juvenile Justice Board transfers Pari murder case

Nayagarh: The Juvenile Justice Board, Nayagarh today transferred the case of alleged sexual assault and murder of 5-year-old girl Pari at Jadupur village in the district to the Nayagarh Children’s Court.

The decision was taken as the accused belongs to the age group of 16-18 years. Further hearing of the case will be held at the Children’s Court.

The Juvenile Justice Board was earlier adjudicating the case.

The 17-year-old accused had allegedly sexually assaulted and strangled the girl to death on July 14, last year. He then packed the body in a gunny bag and dumped it at a bush near a pond in the village, police had said.

The Arun Bothra-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Odisha Crime Branch had cracked the sensational case.
