Dhenkanal: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a project proposal with an estimated cost of Rs 112 crore for the development and beautification of the famous Mahima shrine in Joranda of Dhenkanal, which was sent earlier by the District Collector Saroj Kumar Sethi for CM’s nod.

Samadhi Mandir and Prarthana Gruha of the Gadee (shrine) will be beautified. The project proposal also includes the construction of a public health centre (PHC) and at least 200 toilets for use by Sadhus, devotees and visitors, including reconstruction of the Koupina Dhari Mahima Samaja Peetha, a boundary wall, and restoration of Bada Pokhari (an existing pond) and construction of a bus stand. A patch of road stretching from the local Jagannath temple up to the school playground is to be laid, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.

As per the proposal, priority has been given to the all-around infrastructure development of the Mahima Gadee along with various facilities for the devotees. For beautification, 200 palm trees and 200 Banyan trees will be planted and the entire area will have internal roads along with street lights.

It is pertinent to mention here that the CM’s 5T Secretary VK Pandian had visited Mahima Gadee on May 29 and discussed with the inmate Sadhus in detail about development and beautification. Later, he advised the district Collector to submit a proposal in this regard within 15 days.
