MBBS Exam at VIMSAR postponed following rise in COVID cases

Sambalpur: MBBS examination scheduled to be held at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla tomorrow has been postponed.

Informing this, the college authorities said the decision to postpone the exam has been taken following detection of several COVID-19 cases at the campus.

With rise in daily cases, Sambalpur district has come under Red Zone. Today, the district reported 529 fresh infections.

Earlier on January 9, five doctors and two medical students of the VIMSAR were found positive for the virus. Besides, over 10 patients of the healthcare facility had contracted the virus, the day before.

Meanwhile, aspirants of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) have urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to postpone the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Main Exam-2020 in view of the COVID-19 situation.

The exam is scheduled to be held from January 20 to February 8.
