Police have launched a manhunt for Khamari.

According to the victim she had run away from her home in Soro area two years back after being unable to bear torture by her father. She claimed that she was rescued from Soro railway station by a Child Welfare Committee (CWC) member. After rescuing her from Soro railway station, the CWC member had first lodged her at Bapuji Seva Sadan and had later shifted her to Santwana Swadhar Home. The minor has alleged of having been subjected to sexual exploitation at both the places.

Police, who have registered two cases one at Nilgiri police station and another at Sahdevkhunta police station, are investigating into the matter.

“He first arranged for the minor girl’s stay at Bapuji Seva Sadan. During her stay there an aged person Goura Khamari repeatedly molested her and raped her. Recalling from her memory the minor girl has said that she was repeatedly raped by Vinod Kumar Nayak who was an official involved in the management of Santwana Swadhar Home at Baleswar. We have arrested Nayak”, said Amaresh Panda, DSP (Crime), Baleswar.

However, both accused Vinod Nayak who has been arrested and Namita Sahu, manager of Bapuji Seva Sadan and wife of the other accused who is on the run, have said that the allegations were false.

“Some people who are envious of us have done these. There is not even one percent of truth in the allegations. Investigations are on and truth will definitely be out in the open”, said Namita Sahu, manager Bapuji Seva Sadan.
