MLA Bijaya Shankar’s estranged girlfriend gets call for resolving dispute [Listen Audio]

Jagatsinghpur: Tirtol MLA Bijaya Shankar Das’ estranged girlfriend Somalika Das received a telephone call from an unidentified man who asked her to resolve the ongoing dispute between her and the legislator.

During the telephonic conversation, the caller can be heard asking Somalika if she was willing to ‘compromise’ for resolving the issue.

In reply, Somalika was heard saying if the lawmaker was ready to apologise.

She will lodge a complaint with police in connection with the phone call, reports said.

Couple of days ago, Somalika had met Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra urging him to raise the issue in the Odisha Assembly during the Budget Session.

Somalika had accused Bijaya Shankar of developing physical intimacy with her on the promise of marriage. She further alleged that he forced her to undergo abortion twice.

“Police are not taking action against Bijaya Shankar despite registration of case as he is an MLA of the ruling party. He is roaming freely. Police registered the case only after the intervention of Orissa High Court. As I have no trust in the ruling party, I met the Leader of Opposition seeking help,” said Somalika.

Notably, the Orissa High Court had recently directed the Jagatsinghpur police station IIC to register a case against Bijaya Shankar on the basis of a complaint lodged by Somalika.

Alleging police inaction, Somalika had moved the High Court seeking registration of case against the lawmaker.

She had mentioned in her petition that police was not registering case against the MLA despite filing of an FIR on May 13, 2022.

Worth mentioning, Somalika had levelled a serious allegation against the legislator accusing him of not turning up for marriage at a court in Jagatsinghpur even as the two had applied for marriage registration at the office of the sub-registrar in the district.

She had further accused him of running a sex racket. She alleged that the MLA engaged innocent girls in the illegal activity. The money collected through the sex racket was used by the MLA for election-related expenses, she said.
