Murderous attack on BJP leader Loknath Rout in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked Loknath Rout, BJP’s Soro Vice President, near the Soro Police Station in Odisha’s Balasore district, today.

According to reports, Rout was having a morning walk, during which two motorcycle-borne youths attacked him with a billhook and fled the spot.

The incident took place mere 10 metres away from the police station.

Locals rescued the victim in a bleeding state and rushed him to the Soro Community Health Centre. He was later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Though the reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that the incident might have been a fallout of political rivalry.

Police have started an investigation into the incident while efforts were on by cops to trace and apprehend the attackers.
