No darshan at Puri Srimandir for 4 hours tomorrow

Puri: Darshan at Puri Srimandir will be suspended for devotees for a period of four hours tomorrow due to a special ritual of deities to be held on auspicious Krushna Paksha Dasami Tithi in the month of Jyestha.

“After completion of second Bhogamandap rituals, public darshan will remain suspended on Wednesday from 4 pm to 8 pm for Banaklagi Niti (makeup ritual) of deities,” informed Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today.

During the period, the devotees will be restricted to have darshan of Lord Jagannath and His Siblings inside Srimandir. Only Datta Mohapatra servitors will enter into the sanctum sanctorum to perform ‘Banaklagi’ of the deities.

Meanwhile, the preparations are in full swing for conducting Snana Jatra of Lord Jagannath with participation of devotees after a gap of two years. For the first time, the temple administration has decided to allow devotees for darshan of deities on Snana Mandap for only two hours after Gaja or Hati Besha scheduled on Deba Snana Purnima or Jyestha Purnima.
