Nor’wester: 3 dead, 4 others injured in separate incidents of lightning strike

Dhenkanal: Three persons were killed and four others sustained burn injuries in separate incidents of lightning strike due to Nor’wester in Dhenkanal district, today evening.

In the first incident, two persons died in Nadhanpur village of Mangalpur panchayat under Sadar block. The duo identified as Prakash Behera and Sankarshan Behera had gone to grassland near the village to graze their cattle. All of a sudden, it started raining along with lightning strikes and they took shelter under a tree when the fatal mishap took place.

The second incident was reported from Deogaon village under Gondia block in the district. The incident occurred when five persons were taking shelter at a school verandah. The injured were rescued and admitted to Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital (DHH) in critical condition.

Later, one of the injured persons died while undergoing treatment. The deceased was identified as Jagat Behera from the village.
