Tentulikhunti: Two persons were killed on the spot and 11 others sustained grievous injuries today morning after a pickup van in which they were travelling fell off a bridge and from a height of about 20 feet on Dhulu Ghati road under Tentulikhunti block in Nabarangpur.
The deceased and injured persons belong to Kantagaon and Timanpur villages under Patraput panchayat of the district. However, their identities have not been ascertained yet, a local cop said.

According to an eyewitness, the ill-fated jackfruit-laden van (bearing registration number OD-24 F-4784) was on its way to a weekly haat in Kalahandi from Nabarangpur district. Driver of the van lost control of the vehicle and skidded off the road leading to the fatal mishap and deaths.
The injured were rescued by some locals and rushed to a nearby hospital in Tentulikhunti for treatment. Later, they were shifted to the community health centre (CHC) in Jaipatna and district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Bhawanipatna of Kalahandi after their health conditions deteriorated.
Worth mentioning, five persons were killed and nine others sustained severe injuries in another incident after a speeding truck rammed into a wedding procession in the wee hours of Wednesday at Sathighar Sahi near NH-20 in Keonjhar district. The injured were admitted to the DHH and are undergoing treatment.
