Odisha: 2 youths drown to death, 2 others go missing while taking bath in Kuakhai river

Balianta: Two youths met their watery grave and two more went missing today while taking a bath in Kuakhai river near Dhabalahar village of Bainchua panchayat under Balianta block on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Bodies of the two deceased were fished out following a frantic search.

A team of local fire services personnel carried out a search operation at the mishap site, which was stopped after the fall of night. However, the missing youths have not been traced out yet.

The identities of the four youths, who happen to be friends, have not been ascertained yet.

According to an eyewitness, eight youths had come to the river for taking a bath. As ill luck could have it, four of them went deep into the water and drowned leading to untimely deaths.

It is pertinent to mention here that two youths earlier drowned to death in Kuakhai river on May 27 near the Indrapal locality under Balakati outpost and Balianta police limits of Bhubaneswar.

The deceased were identified as Smruti Sourav Pradhan from Tamando of Khordha and Satyajit Das from Rengali of Angul district. They had come to Indrapal for a feast along with other friends.
