Odisha: 3 men sentenced to life, 2 get 3-yr jail term for murder

Rayagada: Three persons were sentenced to life imprisonment by Rayagada District and Sessions Judge Court for killing a man on the suspicion of practising witchcraft at Arpana village under Seskhala police limits in Rayagada district in 2017.

Hearing the case, Rayagada District and Sessions Judge Bikram Patnaik awarded lifer to undertrial prisoners Punalu Sirika, Binod Mandangi and Marish Jilakara, who were main accused in the murder case. The Judge also convicted two of their associates–Ramesh Tadingi and Rama Kandagiri–in the case and awarded them three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI).

Public prosecutor Ajit Patnaik was handling the case.

On December 31, 2017, one Ratunu Jilakara was brutally killed with a wooden planks on suspicious of practising witchcraft in the village.
