Bhubaneswar:Â While Monsoon Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to begin tomorrow, total 47 MLAs have so far contracted COVID-19 as 12 more legislators tested positive for the virus.
Swab reports of 12 more MLAs that were were collected at the Assembly premises yesterday ahead of the Monsoon Session came out positive today. The 12 MLAs are Ashok Kumar Bal, Bishnubrata Routray, Bhagirathi Sethy, Rajanikant Singh, Padmini Dian, Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Sukanta Behera, Umakant Samantray, Nauri Nayak, Prashant Jagadev, Samir Ranjan Das and Sushant Nayak.

It is pertinent to mention here that Tourism Minister Jyoti Kumar Panigrahi, Textiles Minister Padmini Dian, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash and MLA Debi Prasad Mishra have tested positive for the virus for second time. Meanwhile, MLA Sanatana Bijuli of Badasahi in Mayurbhanj district was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar today for the treatment of the disease.

The 47 COVID-19 infected MLAs, include Susant Rout (Bhubaneswar-north), Ananta Narayan Jena (Bhubaneswar-central), Bikram Panda (Berhampur), Byomakesh Ray (Chandbali), Soumya Ranjan Patnaik (Khandapada), Pradeep Maharathy (Pipili), Shankar Oram (Biramitrapur), Aditya Madhi (Malkangiri), Women and Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahu, Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo and Labour Minister Susanta Singh.
Besides, three MPs have also been infected by the virus. They are Suresh Pujari (Bargarh), Manjulata Mandal (Bhadrak) and Ramesh Majhi (Nabarangpur).
