Odisha-based child rights activist Ranjan Mohanty new Chairperson of NACG

Bhubaneswar: Eminent child rights activist from Odisha Ranjan Kumar Mohanty was elected as the Chairperson of National Action and Coordination Group (NACG), which is working to end violence against children.

Mohanty, the Chairman of Odisha Alliance for Child Rights and Secretary of PECUC, Odisha, was elected unanimously for the prestigious post on the concluding day of the two-day national board meeting of NACG-EVAC (End Violence Against Children) held at Panthaniwas on Sunday here.

Besides, two new office bearers — D. Roshan Kumar, the Chief functionary of SEEDS at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and Sanjay Gupta, the Chief functionary of CHETNA in New Delhi — were elected as Vice-Chairpersons of NACG.

Former Member of Jharkhand State Commission for Child Rights Sanjay Mishra will remain the Treasurer of NACG. Prakash Rath of OLS from Odisha was elected as the member of the 11-member Executive Committee.

Following appointment, Mohanty said that he will continue to work on the mission to promote an environment for children and strengthen the NACG-EVAC across the country.
