Odisha: Children served liquor for COVID-19 prevention

Malkangiri: At a time when researchers across the globe are yet to develop COVID-19 vaccine, some locals in Pasranpalli village under Padia block of Odisha’s Malkangiri district have done the unthinkable.

According to reports, around 50 children of the locality were served country liquor by some villagers as prevention against COVID-19. The locals believe that the consumption of the country liquor will keep novel coronavirus at bay.

During the bizarre act, social distancing went for a toss as the children sat close to each other without wearing masks.

A video of the incident surfaced on social media and went viral.

Another superstitious act had recently taken place in the district as a sorcerer allegedly thrashed an ailing woman and fed her pig excreta for her treatment.
