Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Cuttack, Dec 7:

The bail petition of Ranjan Dash, who has been arrested by the CBI for his involvement in the mega Odisha chit fund scam, hangs in balance after the Acharya Harihar Cancer Research Institute (AHCRI)in Odisha’s Cuttack city confirmed he is not suffering from cancer.

It may be mentioned that Dash, co-founder of the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group and one of the closest associates of Banki BJD MLA Pravat Tripathy, had applied for bail in the Odisha High Court on the plea that he is suffering from cancer.

The court, while taking his plea, had directed the AHCRI to examine him and submit a report.

Acting on the directive of the court, a four-member team of doctors of the Institute examined Dash and found that he was not suffering from cancer.

In its report given on Saturday, the team, however, did mention that Dash is having fibrosis complications.

The High Court will decide on the bail plea of Dash after it receives the report.

However, going by the report of the Institute, it is most likely that the High Court would reject Dash’s bail plea, sources said.
