Odisha CM announces Rs 33 crore KALIA aid for Puri farmers
Puri: Chief Minister Naveen Patanik today announced a financial package of Rs 33.03 crore for farmers of Puri district under the state Government’s flagship Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.
This would benefit total 1,65,131 small and marginal farmers in the district.
Under the package, each farmer will receive Rs 2,000 financial aid for 2021-22 Rabi season. The cash amount will directly be credited to the farmers’ bank accounts.
On September 11, the CM had sanctioned a sum of Rs 742.58 crore for 37,12,941 farmers across the state under the scheme. However, farmers of Puri district could not avail the benefit as model code of conduct was in effect due to Pipili by-poll.
Earlier in June this year, the state Government had announced Rs 1,690 crore COVID-19 assistance package for landless farmers, construction workers, NREGS workers, particularly vulnerable tribal groups, SC/ST students and physically handicapped students. Under the package, all 17.89 lakh landless farmers in the state received special assistance of Rs 1,000 each. Besides, Rs 207 crore was given to landless farmers, who had not receive their third instalment under KALIA scheme.
