Odisha CM urges Centre for safe return of Odias stranded in war-hit Ukraine

Bhubaneswar: As Russia intensified war against Ukraine, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on safe return of Odias stranded in war-hit eastern Europe country.

Expressing concern over grave situation of Indian nationals from Odisha residing in Ukraine, Patnaik telephoned Union Home Minister and urged him for safe evacuation of Odia students and labourers from Ukraine.

Responding to the call, Shah assured Odisha CM that India Government is in touch with the Ukraine Government and working to bring back students and labourers from Ukraine at the earliest.

Patnaik today announced that the State Government will bear the expenses for bringing back students and workers stranded in Ukraine. He also directed that Development Commissioner-cum-Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena will coordinate the overall issue of bringing back citizens from Ukraine to Odisha.

Besides, IPS Officer Ravi Kant, the Resident Commissioner at New Delhi, will also coordinate with the Government of India over this issue.

The Chief Minister also directed the District Administration to collect information regarding students and workers in Ukraine and effectively coordinate with their family members at this hour of crisis.
