Odisha govt clears investment proposals worth Rs 846 cr

The Odisha government today cleared the proposals of four companies to invest Rs 846 crore in their projects that would provide direct employment to more than 1,000 people in the state.

The decision was taken at the State Level Single Window Clearance Committee (SLSWCLC) headed by chief secretary GC Pati at the State Secretariat here.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Gagan Kumar Dhal, the CMD of the state-owned Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Limited (IPICOL) said the committee approved the proposal of Uttam Intralogistics to construct a 21-km long conveyor belt from Odisha to Chhattisgarh.

The company would invest Rs 260 crore in construction of the conveyor belt to transport coal through pipeline from Mahanadi Coalfield area within Odisha, he said.

The committee also approved the proposal of the Germany-based SMS India to expand its unit at Khordha for manufacture of rolling mill equipment used in steel industries at an investment of Rs 168 crore and a proposal by the Container Corporation of India Limited, a unit under the Railway ministry, to construct two container terminals at Muniguda and Paradip with two multi-modal Logistic Parks at both the places at an investment of Rs 236 crore.

Apart from this, the committee also cleared the proposal of Purvi Bharat Paper and Power Limited to set up a logistics park and a solar power plant of 1.5 MW capacity at an investment of Rs 182 crore, Dhal said, adding that the clearances were subject to the permission from the Energy and Water Resources departments.

Dhal, however, said the committee put on hold another proposal from the Saraf Group of Industries to set up a 15 MW captive power plant at its project site at Chhatrapur.

“The company will be told to use power from the state grid,” he informed.
