Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today suspended former Deputy Collector of Subarnapur district, Iswar Chandra Das for his alleged negligence in discharging government duties. According to an order issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Das has been suspended with immediate effect.

The order further stated Das shall be at Collectorate, Deogarh during the suspension period. He was asked not to leave headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the Collector, Deogarh.

Das will be entitled to the payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule-90 of Orissa Service Code, the order added.

The action has been taken against Das on basis of a report submitted by Project Director, DRDA, Subarnapur.

Das was irregular in attending the office and assigned work. Besides, he was indiscipline. Also, his behavior to the staff, colleagues as well as to the higher authorities was not cordial. His behavior seems irrational, the report mentioned.

The PD, DRDA’s report stated the behavior of Das towards the BDO Tarbha was discourteous and derogatory. Moreover, he was in habit of consuming liquor even while on duty.

Worth mentioning, the Subarnapur District Collector relieved Das from his duties on June 3, 2020 due to his indiscipline behavior and negligence in duty.
