Odisha: Newborn thrown out of auto-rickshaw by woman rescued in State Capital

Bhubaneswar: In a bizarre incident today, a woman came by an auto-rickshaw and threw out a newborn boy on the roadside near Acharya Vihar locality of Bhubaneswar. After a few minutes, another woman came to the spot by an auto-rickshaw and went away with the discarded baby.

After receiving the information, Childline intervened in the matter and immediately rushed to the spot and contacted Sahid Nagar police. Some Childline members collected the auto-rickshaw registration number and local police later rescued the newborn, an official source said.

“After striving for about an hour, finally, Sahid Nagar police rescued the baby from Akhandalamani slum and handed over the newborn. Childline produced the boy before Additional Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and admitted her to Capital Hospital here for a health checkup,” the official stated.

An FIR has been lodged at the police station in this connection and a probe initiated.
