“The house owners of the twin city have to submit detailed information about their tenants in a declaration form to the concerned police station of their respective areas in every two months. They can also provide the information to the police through e-mail. If any house owner is found to have furnished wrong information to the police, he/she will have a six-month jail term with a fine of Rs 1000. We have asked the house owners to submit the above information within 10 days after the rules come into force from April 8 next”, police commissioner Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma told reporters here today.

He said it would be easier for the police to track the modus operandi of the people who are staying on rent in the twin city.

“We have taken the decision as we have found that some of the outsiders staying in the twin city on rent are involved in criminal activities”, Sharma added.
