Six Chhattisgarh devotees die in road mishap in Odisha

Nuapada: At least six persons, including a minor boy were killed after the car they were travelling in rammed into a tree near Sunsunia under Sadar block in Nuapada district today. Besides, three others were critically injured in the mishap.

The incident took place when they were returning from Nrusinghanath temple in Bargarh district in the afternoon.

Sources said, all the devotees hailing from Mahasamund in Chhattisgarh district had come all the way from the neighbouring state to have darshan of Lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivratri today. On its way back, the ill-fated vehicle lost control and crashed into a tree leading to death of six persons on the spot.

On receiving information, Nuapada and Jonk police along with a firefighting team reached the spot and sent the injured to district headquarters hospital (DHH) for treatment. The cops also began an inquiry into the incident.

With this, total 11 persons were killed in separate road mishaps during the last 12 hours in the state. In the wee hours today, five persons were killed after the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck on NH-149 near Kantiapasi under Khamar police limits in Angul district.
