Odisha sports persons thank govt for cash incentive measure

Several eminent sports persons of Odisha have welcomed the decision of the state government to give double the amount of the cash awards given by the Centre to sports persons of the state winning medals in various international sporting events.

A delegation of eminent sports persons comprising former international hockey star and BJD Rajya Sabha MP Dilip Tirkey, former cricketer Debasish Mohanty, chess star Debashis Das, well-known woman footballer and former captain of the national football team Shradhanjali Samantray, former international women athlete Anuradha Biswal and eminent cricket coach Kishore Mania, met chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here today and thanked him for the effort of the state government, which they said, would go a long way in the future development of sports in the state.

The chief minister, in his reply, assured the delegation that his government would continue its effort for the promotion of sports and  sports persons of the state.
