Odisha to seek two coronavirus test facilities

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government will urge the Centre for creation of two novel coronavirus test facilities in the state, said Health Department Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal after a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.

“Odisha Health Minister will write to the Union Health Minister seeking two coronavirus test facilities at RMRC in Bhubaneswar and SCB Hospital in Cuttack,” the official said.

“We had a discussion regarding our preparations to stop spreading of coronavirus in the state and what additional preparations need to be made. It was decided to create quarantine facility at the state-level,” he added

Worth mentioning, samples from Odisha are being sent to National Institute of Virology, Pune for coronavirus test due to lack of such facility in the state.

The official also advised people of the state to avoid mass gathering and resort to frequent handwashing.
