Odisha: Two 4-YO kids drown in canal

Paradip: In yet another tragic incident, two children aged around four years drowned in Taladanda canal near Lakpada slum  here today.

Sources said the two minors–a boy and a girl–were playing on canal embankment this morning. All of a sudden, they accidentally fell into the waterbody and got swept away due to strong water current. Seeing the kids screaming for help, locals rushed to their rescue. They were later rushed to Athara Banki hospital in critical condition. However, doctors declared them brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as Sangeeta, daughter of one Buddhadeb Das and Jitendra, son of one Nursingha Mistry of the slum area.

Meanwhile, police registered an unnatural death case and initiated an inquiry in this connection.

Two days ago, a man and his two children aged 13 and 15 years drowned while taking bath in Mahanadi river at Daleipada Ghat in Sambalpur.
