Odisha Youth Cong to hit streets in Delhi demanding removal of Minister Dibyashankar Mishra

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Youth Congress decided to intensify stir against Minister Dibyashankar Mishra in the national capital over his alleged involvement in schoolteacher Mamita Meher murder case.

The youth wing of Congress will hit streets in Delhi for a period of three days starting from November 9 and present a memorandum to President of India Ram Nath Kovind to mount pressure on Odisha Government for dismissal of Mishra as Minister of State (Home) and his inclusion under purview of investigation in the sensational murder case.

As per the schedule, Odisha Youth Congress will stage demonstration in front of Office of Delhi Resident Commissioner on November 9 and 10. Next day, the activists will protest against Odisha Minister at Jantar Mantar, where many senior leaders of the party are likely to join the agitation. The youth wing of Congress will submit the memorandum to the President on either November 11 or 12, informed Odisha Youth Congress President Smruti Ranjan Lenka today.

Prior to heading for Delhi, the Youth Congress activists will sit on dharna for two nights on November 6 and 7 in front of Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar demanding justice for Mamita Meher and termination of the minister. On November 8, the protestors will meet Governor Ganeshi Lal and submit a memorandum addressing the President.

Recently, a delegation of Congress including party’s Odisha in-charge A. Chellakumar and national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala had visited Mamita Meher’s residence at Jharni village under Tureikela Block in Balangir district. The leaders demanded death sentence for all accused persons involved in the murder case as well as dismissal of Minister Dibyashankar Mishra and arrest for his alleged link with prime accused Govind Sahu.

Mamita Meher, a 24-year-old schoolteacher of Sunshine Public School in Mahaling, Kalahandi, was missing since October 8. Her body was exhumed at an under-construction stadium of the school on October 19. Later in the evening, prime accused Govind Sahu, who had escaped from police custody, was apprehended from his sister’s house in Balangir district.
