Odisha’s COVID-19 toll crosses 100-mark; Ganjam alone shares 57 %

Berhampur: COVID-19 toll of Odisha, which reported its first death due to the virus on April 7, crossed the 100-mark today after six more patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours. The toll now stand at 103.

While the first COVID-19 case in the state was reported from Bhubaneswar on March 15, the first death was also reported from the state capital on April 7 after a 72-year-old male patient from Jharpada area succumbed to the virus.

The 103 deaths have been reported from 13 districts in the state. Ganjam alone shares 57 % of the state’s total toll with 59 deaths followed by Khordha and Cuttack with 14 and 9 deaths, respectively.  The rest deaths are from Angul (2), Bargarh (1) , Bhadrak (1), Gajapati (5), Jagatsinghpur (2), Jajpur (1), Kendrapada (2), Nayagarh (1), Puri (2), Rayagada (2) and Sundargarh( 2).

Besides, the 30 other COVID-19 patients died of other health complications in the state: Balasore (2), Bhadrak (3), Cuttack (3), Ganjam (4), Jajpir (1), Kendrapada (1), Keonjhar (1), Khordha (7), Mayurbhanj (2), Nabarangpue (1), Puri (2) and Sundargarh (3).

Today, the state reported six COVID-19 deaths and two non COVID deaths.
