Odisha’s ruling BJD corners Centre over fuel price hike; to stage state-wide protest from Nov 1

Bhubaneswar: Targeting the Centre over fuel price hike, Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today announced that it will resort to a state-wide protest over the issue from November 1.

At a Presser, BJD leader Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said the Centre has completely failed to control prices of petrol, diesel and other essential commodities. To protest this, the party members and leaders will sit on a dharna in front of Raj Bhawan here tomorrow and submit a memorandum to the Governor addressing to the President.

From November 1, the party will stage a state-wide protest in all 147 Assembly Constituencies over the issue, informed party Chief Whip Pramilla Mallick.

As part of the protest, members of party’s women, student and youth wing will stage demonstration in front of all petrol pumps across the state.

“While COVID-19 pandemic has already affected livelihoods of common people over the last two years, rise in prices of fuel and other essential commodities has added to their woes.
