OPD services of this Odisha hospital shut

Burla: Authorities of VIMSAR, Burla closed the out-patient department (OPD) services today after nine more doctors of Medicine department, two attendants and one nurse tested positive for COVID-19.

VIMSAR Director Lalit Kumar Meher stated the decision to shut the OPD services was taken to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

After a patient from Atabira of Bargarh district, who was admitted to VIMSAR for two days tested positive for coronavirus, authorities of the hospital sent swab samples of the doctors, nurse and attendants for tests.

The VIMSAR Director further informed more number of doctors and nurses likely to test positive.

Earlier, 26 doctors and nurses of VIMSAR were detected COVID-19 positive.

So far, as many as 663 persons from the district tested positive for the coronavirus. While 236 recovered from the infection, the number of active cases in the district stands at 428. One person from the district succumbed to the virus.
