Bhubaneswar: Two days after the fatal road mishap, where a speeding truck rammed into a car on NH-16 in the state capital killing one person on the spot, the Commissionerate  Police today arrested the absconding driver of the vehicle.

The accused driver identified as Saubhagya Ranjan Patra was nabbed from Begunia area of Khordha district today. He has been booked under various charges of the IPC for overspeeding, negligence, reckless driving and carrying goods more than permissible limit.

Earlier in the morning of April 2, the speeding hyva truck hit a car from rear at Palasuni here, killing an occupant of the car and leaving three others critically injured. Both the vehicles were heading towards Cuttack on the NH when the mishap took place.

The incident had later caused a major traffic jam affecting vehicular movements on the busy stretch of the NH for hours.
