Remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘Jawad’ weakens further over sea

Bhubaneswar: The India Metrological Department (IMD) today stated the remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘Jawad’ has weakened further over the Bay of Bengal.

In a fresh weather update, the IMD mentioned the Deep Depression which is a remnant of ‘Jawad’ has weakened into a Depression over northwest of the sea. The weather system is located close to southeast of Puri at 2:30 PM today.

The weathermen further predicted the system will move north-northeastwards and weaken further by today midnight.

The system is moving at a speed of 18 km per hour, the IMD stated.

Since midnight, there was a heavy downpour in most parts of the coast districts under the influence of the weather system. Farmers have been the worst hit by the rain as harvested crop has been damaged or submerged in knee deep water at agriculture fields.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into northwest Bay of Bengal, along and off Odisha-West Bengal coasts during next 24 hours and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal along and off north Andhra Pradesh coast during next six hours.
