Retired IAS R. Balakrishnan appointed as Chief Advisor to Odisha govt

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today appointed retired IAS officer R. Balakrishnan as Principal Advisor (Special Initiative) with the rank of Chief Secretary.

Balakrishnan, a 1984-batch IAS officer, will directly report to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, an official statement issued in this regard said.

According to a government notification, Balakrishnan will look after the functioning of the Special Development Council, Tribal Museum, Crafts Museum, Heritage Cabinet and Odia University and report directly to the Chief Minister.

Balakrishnan, who retired on November 30 this year as the Development Commissioner, has declined to take any salary and will receive an honorarium.

However, his job will be at par with the Chief Secretary with all benefits.
