Several Odisha districts likely to witness heavy rainfall till Aug 25; IMD issues yellow warning

Bhubaneswar: The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha till August 25.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Bikaner, Kota, Guna, Sidhi, Dehri, Balurghat and thence eastwards to Nagaland extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, said the IMD in its weather bulletin today.

August 22: As per the IMD prediction, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati and Ganjam on August 22.

Besides, the IMD has predicted thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balasore, Gajapati and Ganjam on the day. It has issued a yellow warning in this regard.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha on August 22.

August 23: Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar on August 23, predicted the IMD.

Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Khurda, Puri and Ganjam on the day. The IMD has issued a yellow warning in this regard.

Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha on August 23, added the IMD.

August 24: According to the forecast, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Boudh on August 24.

Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur on the day. A yellow warning has been issued in this regard.

Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and at many places over the remaining districts of Odisha on August 24.

August 25: According to the forecast, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Nayagarh on August 25.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Angul district on the day. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for the above said districts.

As per the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha on August 25.
