Sexual exploitation of lady cop: Odisha HC asks CB to submit status report

The Odisha High Court on Monday asked the State Crime Branch to submit a status report on its investigation into the alleged blackmail and sexual exploitation of a lady police officer by a senior cop.

A single bench of Justice SC Parija, while hearing the petition of the lady cop, issued the directive to the Crime Branch police.

The lady police inspector had alleged that she was sexually harassed and tortured by Inspector Ajit Kumar Swain ever since she joined police services 12 years ago.

She had also alleged that although she had conveyed her grievances to some senior police officers in her district and the state, none of them paid any heed to her plight.

While the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Court of Soro has already issued non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Swain, the Crime Branch police have conducted several raids to arrest him but in vain.
