High-profile murder in Cuttack city: Man hacks mother to death

Cuttack: Family feud took an ugly turn in a royal family int Srivihar Colony under Bidanasi police limits here after a man allegedly hacked his mother to death late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Paresh Kumari Devi, who belonged to the royal family of Kanika Raja Sri Rajendra Narayan Bhanjadeo.

Reportedly, a verbal duel ensued between the mother-son duo over some issues late last night. In a fit of rage, accused Gopala Bhanjadeo attacked his mother with a sharp weapon killing her on the spot.

Sources said accused Gopala, who has three wives, has psychiatric issues.

Daughter of the deceased Jayanti alleged that she has seen her brother beating her mother several times for no reason. She also claimed that the accused is mentally unstable.

Meanwhile, Bidanasi police has registered a case and detained the accused for interrogation. Besides, the body has been sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for autopsy.
