Similipal Fire: Central team to assist Odisha in dousing flame

New Delhi: Union Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar today informed that the Centre will send a committee of experts to Odisha for providing technical assistance in dousing the raging wildfire in Similipal National Park of Mayurbhanj district and nearby areas.

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India will send the team to give technical advice and help the Odisha Forest Department in effective management of forest fire incidents in the region, said Javadekar.

The experts will work in coordination with the deployed team for early and effective dousing of fire, the Union Minister said, adding that he will review the situation with his team on a daily basis.

Earlier in the day, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP MPs from Odisha met Javadekar in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum seeking his personal intervention in containment of the wildfire.
