Snana Jatra: Traffic resections imposed in Puri for tomorrow

Puri: As congregation of a huge number of devotees is expected for Snana Jatra at Srimandir here tomorrow, preparation by the district administration for the same has reached its last leg.

The administration has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure hassle-free darshan and smooth conduct of the grand festival tomorrow.

District Collector Samarth Verma and SP Kanwar Vishal Singh today reviewed all arrangements made for devotees’ safety, crowd control and traffic management.

As part of security arrangements, barricades have been erected on Bada Danda (Grand Road) from Market Square. About 50 platoons of police force along with senior police personnel will be deployed to ensure law and order during the festival.

Besides, restrictions have been imposed on movement of vehicles in the town for tomorrow.

Police sources said there will be ‘no-vehicle zone’ from Marichikot Chhak to Jaga Balia lodge in Dolamandap Sahi here. Passenger buses plying from Bhubaneswar and Konark on a daily basis will be allowed up to the bus stand here. Besides, buses running in the city will be allowed up to Medical Square here tomorrow. Two-wheelers can be parked in designated areas on Bada Danda.

Light vehicles, including cars will be allowed for parking at Jagannath Ballabha mutt, Sharadhabali, Blue Flag beach and Digabareni parking lot.
