Solve issues of large industries in time, Odisha CM tells officials

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the officials of the concerned departments to solve the problems of the large industries in a specified time frame.

“Since the state government has given priority to employment generation and collection of more revenue, the need of the hour is to expedite the process to clear the pending projects and solve the problems of the large industries in a time-bound manner,” Patnaik said while presiding over a high-level review meeting on the status of the existing and upcoming large industries at the State Secretariat here today.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to refer matters relating to delay in project work due to policy decisions to the State Cabinet for early solution.

As the district administrations have special responsibility in the implementation of various projects, Patnaik asked them to take timely decision. Action would be taken against the concerned official in case of any delay, he warned.

Patnaik also informed that he will hold review meeting on the progress of various projects in the second week of every month.

The meeting revealed that of the 92 MoUs signed by the state government, production has started in 43 projects. While work on seven projects is underway and land acquisition for 27 projects is on, work on 15 other projects is yet to begin due to various issues.

Out of a total of 224 industries which have not signed MoU with the state government, production has started in 24 while work on the remaining 200 industries is yet to begin.

The meeting discussed major issues of the industries pertaining to land acquisition, no-objection certificate (NOC) from IDCO for mortgage of land, procurement of raw materials, forest and environment clearance and supply of water.

Among others, Industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra, chief secretary GC Pati, additional chief secretary to Chief Minister, additional chief secretaries, Finance and Revenue and principal secretaries of Industries, Water Resources, Energy and Steel and Mines were present at the meeting.
