Spanish jet first int’l flight to land in BPIA

Bhubaneswar, May 5:

A international charter flight from Spain became the first international flight to land in Odisha’s Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here.

The flight carrying a 12-member tourist group along with 3 crew members from Madrid (Spain) landed here on May 3 via Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, a belated press release from the BPAI authorities revealed here today.

The 18-seater international flight, Global Express business jet, will take off from Bhubaneswar International Airport tomorrow and head for Osaka International Airport, Japan on Tuesday, May 6, the release informed.

The tourists from Spain were fascinated by the tourist spots in Bhubaneswar, Puri, Konark and few other places in the Golden Triangle, the release said, adding, many more charter flights are expected in view of the large tourist potential the state has to offer.

The charter was operated by M/s Freedom Airlines Services with local support from M/s Travel Link and GHA by IFOS, the release added.
