Gitam University stormed into the semi-final after they beat the hosts SOA University (SOAU) by nine runs in a Group-A encounter of the SOA Premier League (SPL) at SOA University here on Wednesday night.

In the quest for a place in the final, Gitam will play Ravenshaw University while last year’s champions SRM University will clash with Jadavpur University.
Winning the toss, Gitam scored 171 for 9 in 20 overs with T Sai Dinesh making 58 runs off 31 balls.

For SOAU, Kundan Prajapati and Abinash Bhuyan were the pick of the bowlers claiming four and three wickets respectively.

In reply, the hosts were bowled out for 162 in 19.1 overs. Sarthak Mohapatra (34) and Kundan Prajapati (29) were the main scorers for SOAU.

For Gitam, Kishan was the most successful bowler claiming 3 for 19.
