Taxi driver ‘killed’, body dumped near NH-20 in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Bhubaneswar: A taxi driver was allegedly killed and his body was dumped near National Highway (NH)-20 in Ghasipura area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The deceased has been identified as Bairiganjan of Chhatijodi village under Kanas police limits in Puri district.

Bairiganjan was working as a taxi driver by staying in Cuttack city for the last few years, sources said.

According to sources, someone had hired Bairiganjan for a trip to Jajpur Road on June 24. However, he did not return to Cuttack, sources added.

Bairiganjan’s family members lodged missing complaint with Malgodown police in Cuttack after they failed to contact him over phone.

Bairiganjan’s decomposed body was found near NH-20 at Darakhala under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar on June 27, sources said.

Ghasipura police registered an unnatural death case and handed over the body to the deceased’s family members after conducting a postmortem.

Bairiganjan’s taxi was reportedly found abandoned on a river embankment in Niali area of Cuttack district, sources added.

Bairiganjan’s family members, meanwhile, alleged that some miscreants might have killed him and dumped his body near NH-20 in Keonjhar.
