Tension at OMC mines following death of truck owner in accident

Keonjhar: Palpable tension prevailed at Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) mines at Suakati village under Sadar police limits in Keonjhar district after a truck owner died in a mishap in front of the its main gate this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sanatan Sahu of Tura village under Anandapur Sub-division in the district.

Sources said Sahu drove himself to the mining site at around 7 AM for loading of iron ores. The driver of a loader while moving towards trucks inside the mines lost control seeing a speeding four-wheeler coming from the opposite direction and hit Sahu, who was standing near his truck. He died on the spot. His body was later sent to the district headquarters hospital (DHH).

Later, owners of several trucks staged a protest outside the hospital demanding Rs 10 lakh compensation for family members of the deceased.
