Tourist goes missing in Odisha’s Puri sea

Puri: In an unfortunate incident, a tourist from Jharkhand was feared dead after he went missing while taking bath in the sea in Odisha’s Puri.

The youth has been identified as Ankit Gupta from Ranchi.

Sources said Ankit came to the holy town along with his 7 to 8 friends. The incident took place near Swargadwara (cremation ground) on the Puri beach.

He was swept away by strong current while bathing with his other friends.

He was missing by the time of filing this report.

Worried over the rising number of deaths, the Tourism Department had asked all hoteliers in Puri to educate tourists about safety measures to be taken while bathing.
