Two more airports in Odisha to begin air services by Oct

Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda and Rourkela airports will become operational for flights from October this year under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik), informed Airport Authority of India (AAI) Chairman Guru Prasad Mohapatra here today after his meeting with Odisha Chief Secretary A P Padhi.

Plans are also afoot to make Jeypore and Utkela airports operational from December, the AAI Chairman added.

The AAI Chairman also told reporters that he had detailed discussions with the Chief Secretary on issues of parallel taxi track at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) and land requirement.

“Under the regional connectivity scheme, Jharsuguda will get connected towards October. We discussed parallel taxi track for Bhubaneswar airport and land requirement issues. The progress of Jeypore and Utkela airports which are being developed by the State government under the regional connectivity scheme was also reviewed at the meeting,” said Mohapatra speaking to reporters.
