Varsha Priyadarshini moves Odisha HC seeking anticipatory bail over casteist slur

Cuttack: Following summon notice issued by Delhi police, actress Varsha Priyadarshini today moved Orissa High Court (HC) here today seeking anticipatory bail over her alleged casteist remarks.

Besides, Varsha’s mother and niece sought anticipatory bail from the court.

Worth mentioning, all three of them have been summoned by the Delhi police for using casteist slur and misbehaving with a staff of actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty. Though the incident had occurred on July 9 in 2019, Delhi police registered the case this month.

Earlier on July 25, a police team from the national capital had arrived in Cuttack in this connection. But due to lack of cooperation from Purighat police, the team had to return to Delhi.

Later in the day, the actress along with her elder sister reached Purighat police station here to receive the summon.
