Very heavy rainfall to lash these Odisha districts from August 17; IMD issues Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and a cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in 13 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre issued Yellow Warning for next five days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD said, “The monsoon trough at mean sea level lies along the foothills of the Himalayas. The cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and its neighbourhood now lies over southwest Bangladesh and neighbourhood at 3.1 Km above mean sea level.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

The highest maximum temperature of 34.9oC was recorded at Paralakhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.0oC was recorded at Angul in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Kandhamal and Ganjam.

For Wednesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 16.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2023)

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul and Sambalpur.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.
