Woman among 2 dead, another injured in freak road mishap in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Lephripada: A man and a woman were killed and another woman sustained grievous injuries as the ill-fated motorcycle on which they were travelling hit a stationary truck from behind at Suruguda under Lephripada police limits in Sundargarh district, today evening.

Identities of the deceased persons and the injured one have not been ascertained yet.

According to a source, a ten-wheeler truck was earlier parked on the roadside following a breakdown. The truck had been lying defunct there since then. The bike-borne man and two women were on their way from Lokadega to Darlidhipa when they met with a fatal accident leading to deaths.

Rider of the motorcycle and a woman died on the spot after it dashed against the truck.

The injured was rescued by some locals and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

On being informed, Lephripada police reached the spot and seized the two bodies. Police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the road mishap.
