Phailin barely 150 km away

Phailin is closing in. It is barely 150 km away from Gopalpur and is moving at a speed of 15 kmph. However, its speed would increase as it draws closer to land. During its land-fall near Gopalpur in Ganjam district, Phailin will have a wind speed of 210 to 240 kmph, a senior Met official told OST.

The storm, which according to the latest IMD bulletin lay 150 km southeast of Gopalpur, 160 km east-southeast of Kalingapatnam and 260 km southeast of Paradip is expected to hit the coast near Gopalpur between 6 and 8 pm this evening.
