12 injured as bus hits tree in Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh:  As many as 12 persons were injured when a bus in which they were travelling hit a road-side tree near a village in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.

The incident took place at Ratakhandi village under Khandapada block in the district this afternoon.

As per the available information, the bus carrying around 25 passengers hit a tree while going towards Dholmara from Nayagarh town when accident happened.

Out of 12 injured, seven people were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital when their condition turned critical, reports added.

Nayagarh district Collector N. Thirumala Naik and Superintendent of Police Sashi Bhusan Satpathy visited the hospital and enquired about the health condition of the injured passengers.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and have started investigation.

The driver of the bus fled the spot soon after the incident.

The exact reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained.
